Telephone Interpreting is essentially a three way call between you, a Limited English Proficiency (LEP) person with whom you need to communicate, and an interpreter. The service works equally well whether you and the LEP person are in the same room, across town, or across the country. No appointments are necessary to initiate a telephone interpreting call; the service is available on demand, 24/7/365. What’s more, there are no minimum call length requirements or monthly access fees. You simply pay for the minutes you use at one low, flat per minute rate…regardless of the language required.



The three most common ways to use Fluent's Telephone Interpreting Service:

1. You are face-to-face with a Limited English Proficiency (LEP) person:
a.  Dial the toll free number we will assign you
b.  Provide the Operator with the access code we will assign you
c.  Provide the Operator with the language your client speaks
d.  The interpreter will be connected to the call
e.  Note: The three common ways to conduct this call are through:
i.  A dual handset telephone (available through Fluent or telephony equipment vendors)
ii.  Speakerphone
iii.  By passing the handset back and forth between you and the LEP person
2. You need to make a telephone call to a LEP person:
a.  Dial the toll free number
b.  Provide the Operator with your access code
c.  Notify the Operator that you need to place a call, giving the Operator the requested language
d.  Stay on the line, the Operator will dial the LEP person and connect you, the LEP person and the interpreter on a three-way call
3. A LEP person calls you:
a.  Place the LEP person on conference hold
b.  Dial the toll free number above, providing the Operator the Access Code and the language required
c.  When the interpreter is connected, conference in the LEP person

Remember, whether you are a high volume or only occasional Telephone Interpreting user, there are no minimum call lengths or premiums for different languages or the time of day you need the service. You pay one, low flat per minute rate. Calls are rounded up to the nearest minute.
